Bettye Sanford

Funeral Services for Mrs. Bettye Sanford will be held at 10:00am on Monday, May 28, 2018 in the Chapel of Wade Funeral Home. Mrs. Sanford was 84 years of age and passed away from this life on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at her residence near Seminary. Reverend Kevin Sanford, Reverend Jason Dyess, and Reverend Pat Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Roseland Park Cemetery in Hattiesburg.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Baker, Kenneth Sanford, Tom Corley, Victor Harvey, Mark Achee, and Dewayne Wilson.

Bettye Sue King Sanford was born in the Bunker Hill Community of Marion County on October 27, 1933, to Jessie Calhoun King and Mary Gay Evans King. Mrs. Sanford was retired from the grocery business and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; 4 children, Bettye Elaine Shatswell, Carolyn McPhail, Rayford McPhail, and Winfred McPhail; 4 grandchildren, Anthony Nobles, Stephanie McPhaill, Charles Shatswell, and Nathan McPhail; and 3 siblings, Infant Jessie King, Margaret Ann Robbins, and Alliston King.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis Sanford of Seminary; 4 daughters, Darline Corley (Tom) of Hattiesburg, Kathy Baker (Ken) of Purvis, Alisa Harvey-Speed (Marc) of Hattiesburg, and Gaynell Sanford of Houston, TX; 4 sons, Carroll McPhail (Lana) of Sumrall, Thad McPhail (Brenda) of Petal, Kenneth Sanford (Karina) of Pensacola, FL, and David Sanford of Gulfport; 1 brother, James T. King of Lauderdale; 3 sisters, Bobbie Buckley of Bunker Hill, Patsy Ruth Alcorn of Mandeville, LA, and Bertha Merle Stampley of Poplarville; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchilden, and 4 great-great grandchildren; as well a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Monday from 8:30am until 10:00am at Wade Funeral Home.
