Funeral Services for Mrs. Bettye Jean Shoemake Moore will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024, in the Wade Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Moore, age 91, was formerly of Jackson, and passed away from this life on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in Collins surrounded by her family. Revernd Hal Hood, Reverend Glenn Shoemake, and Reverend Danny Forrest will officiate and interment will be in the Collins City Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be her nephews; Billy Shoemake, Stephen Shoemake, Mark Shoemake, Porter Shoemake and Will Shoemake. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Moore's Care Givers; Dotti McKenzie, Shannon Pate, Charlotte Mitchell, Alishia King, Sarah Mauldin, Dana Laperouse, Jean Sanford, Vickie Jackson and Kathy Holden.

Bettye Jean Shoemake was born to Velma and Dale Shoemake in Collins on August 9, 1932. She grew up in Collins and graduated from Collins High School in 1950. Bettye graduated from Mississippi College as a member of the Class of 1954, and began her career as a Home Economics teacher. Some of Bettye's many talents were being a gifted pianist, master seamstress, and gourmet cook. She was very generous, using these talents to bless her family as well as her church and community. Bettye also cherished being a member of the choir at First Baptist Church of Jackson for many years, and the friendships she made there.

This wonderful lady was beautiful inside and out. Her kindness, grace, and southern gentility were gifts to all who knew her. Bettye was devoted to her family of all generations, but her greatest passion was being mother to her three precious children; Jeane, Anne, and Jim.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, William Dale Shoemake, Sr. and Velma McRaney Shoemake of Collins, and her husband, Bill Moore of Jackson.

She is survived by her children, Jeane Magee of Madison, Anne Magee McCrory of Birmingham, Alabama, and James Byron Magee(Anne Marie) of Mooreville, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Goodman Williams, Gray Goodman (Tatum), Handley McCrory Smith(Michael), John McCrory(Abby), Jack, Max, and Ben Magee; her great-grandchildren, Katelyn King, Karley Williams, Charles Williams, Herrin Goodman, Wade Goodman, and Wells McCrory; her brothers, William Dale Shoemake, II(Marie) and David Shoemake(Jo), all of Collins; a special stepdaughter, Kathy Moore Kerr of Madison; as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The visitation will be from 2:30pm until service time on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Wade Funeral Home.
