Funeral Services with Full Military Honors for Billy Gerald Brooks will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Union Baptist Church. Mr. Brooks, age 75, passed away peacefully at home near Seminary on Monday, July 15, 2019. Reverend Dr. Barry Armstrong will officiate and interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Rayford Brooks, Kenneth Brooks, Rick Hall, Alex Hall, Ryan Hall and Sean Kontos.  Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Royce Brooks and Raymond Brooks.

Billy was born on February 26, 1944 in San Angelo Field, TX, the 2nd son of Gaston and Hazel Brooks. A veteran, he served in the US Air Force from 1962 until his retirement in 1985. He served in Thailand during the Vietnam War, and lived in Greece, Iceland and Spain during his military service and retirement. He was married 32 years to Anastasia Brooks, and together they raised 4 children and have 10 grandchildren.

Billy will be remembered for his loyalty, tolerance, his calm demeanor and his love for life. He was man of great character and humor. He will be deeply missed.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents Gaston and Hazel Brooks, and his brother Wheeler Brooks.

Billy is survived by his wife Anastasia Brooks; his son Manny Kontos of Raleigh NC;  his 3 daughters, Kathy Hall(Rick) of Cape Coral FL, Marilyn Knight(Guy) of Liverpool, England & Jennifer Nakhleh(Ziad) of Athens, Greece; his 10 grandchildren, Lara, Aryn & Sean Kontos, Alexander & Ryan Hall, Owen & Jude Knight, Kimon, Anastasia & Alexandra Nakhleh; 4 brothers, Royce Brooks of Seminary, Raymond Brooks(Wanda) of Collins, Rayford Brooks(Londa) of Mooresburg TN, and Kenneth Brooks(Joanne) of Colorado Springs CO; as well as a host of beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 am until service time at Union Baptist Church.
