Funeral Services for Mrs. Brenda Hughes will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in the Wade Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Hughes, age 82, passed away from this life on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at her residence in the Mt. Horeb Community. Brother Brooks Porter and Mr. Larry Bullock will officiate, and Mrs. Darlene Thompson will offer a musical tribute. Internment will be in the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Christian Wood, Guy Easterling, Doug Harper, Craig Thames, Mack Ware, and Ronnie Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Rayner, Russell Nance, and Jake Cantavespre.

Brenda Faye Wood Hughes was born on February 22, 1944, in Collins to Clarence Robert Wood and Troy Merle Magee Wood. Mrs. Hughes was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed sharing time with her family and friends. Her smile was always her heartwarming trademark and she will be greatly missed by her family, her church, and her friends. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clarence Robert Wood and Troy Merle Burns; stepfather, Joseph Roderick Burns; and a brother, Kenneth Larry Wood.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Milton Hughes; 2 daughters, Leigh (Tim) Rayner of Laurel, and Amy (Russell) Nance of Birmingham; 4 grandchildren, Catherine (Jake) Cantavespre, Caroline Copeland, Claire Copeland; and Emily Nance; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Wade Funeral Home.
