Funeral services for Mr. David E. Smith, Sr. will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in the Wade Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Smith, age 90, passed away from this life on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at his residence near Petal. Brother Sammy Ellis will officiate and interment will follow in the McDonald Chapel Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be  Jackson Dyer, Robert Boswell, Cameron "Stu" Collett, Jacob Lazenby, Walker Mims, and Steven Kearn.

David Earl Smith, Sr, was born on July 17, 1935, in Greenville, MS, to William Buddy Smith and Callie McGaugh Smith. Mr. Smith formerly owned KFTW and KYLS Radio Stations, and worked extensively in Broadcast Radio. Mr. Smith was a member of Harvest World Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife of 68 years, Ella Jean Ellis Smith; 1 daughter, Terry Lynn Smith; 1 grandson, William Smith; and his daughter-in-law, Diane Lewis Smith.

Survivors include his son, David Smith, Jr. of Petal; 1 granddaughter, Jessica (Chelsey) Hilburn of Kentwood, LA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be the Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9:30am until 11:00am at Wade Funeral Home.
