Funeral services for Mrs. Dorotheann Rogers will be held at 9:00am Saturday at the Collins United Methodist Church. Mrs. Rogers passed away from this life on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at her residence in Williamsburg. The Reverend Rocky Miskelly, the Reverend Timothy Beard and the Reverend David Shumaker will officiate. The musical service will be presented by James Arrington Goff, pianist. Interment will be in the Collins City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Mack Murphree, Col. Thomas B. Murphree III, Andy Jordan, Ted Parker, Harold Parker, Roger Parker, Jimmy Pickering, and Larry Tripp.

Dorotheann Murphree Rogers was born on December 27, 1931, in Okolona, Mississippi to Thomas B. Murphree, Sr. and Mary Easom Murphree. She was a graduate of Moselle High School and The University of Southern Mississippi. While at USM she obtained a bachelor's degree in home economics and was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. While standing on the steps of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house where she served as sweetheart, she met Harlan B. Rogers whom she married on August 11, 1954. While Harlan attended dental school at Loyola University in New Orleans, Dorotheann taught school and coached basketball. During their 56 years of marriage, the couple built a successful dental practice in Collins and became nationally recognized ranchers. Dorotheann and Harlan established Rogers Bar HR, which is known as one of the leading Charolais cattle operations in the nation. Dorotheann was active in many organizations dedicated to the promotion of the beef industry including The American International Charolais Association, The Mississippi Charolais Association, The National Cattlemen's Association, The Mississippi Cattlemen's Association, and The Covington County Cattlemen's Association. In 2009, she and Harlan were inducted into the American International Charolais Association Hall of Fame in recognition of their accomplishments. At the time of her death, Dorotheann was still very much involved in the ranch's operation, and she especially enjoyed organizing the annual auctions.

Dorotheann dearly loved her church and community. She was a faithful member of Collins United Methodist Church where she taught the Disciples Sunday School class for many years and served on numerous committees. She also served several terms as chairman of the board for The Methodist Hour. One of the highlights of her year was hosting a large community Easter Sunrise Service at the ranch. Dorotheann will be missed by her friends in the Wednesday afternoon bridge club as well as her fellow members of The Shadrack Rogers Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her husband of 55 years, Dr. Harlan B. Rogers.

She is survived by her 4 sons, Oby T. Rogers, Harlan B. "Bernie" Rogers and his wife Jaclyn, Doug Rogers and his wife Missy, and Dr. Joey Rogers and his wife Woodson, all of Collins; 1 sister, Dr. Rebecca Murphree Jordan and her husband Buzzy of Hattiesburg; 1 brother, Dr. Thomas B. "Tommy" Murphree and his wife Nanette of Waveland; 10 grandchildren, Levi Rogers and his wife Shannon, Amanda Rogers Knight, Crain Rogers and his wife Sara, Blake Rogers and his wife Erin, Tanner Rogers, Taylor Ann Rogers, Ruby Rogers, Ava Rogers, Caroline Rogers, and Madelyn Rogers; 5 great grandchildren, Jaina Bonanno, Jaylen Knight, Jordan Knight, Rhett Rogers, and Bentley Rogers; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday at Wade Funeral Home in Collins.

The family request that memorials be made to The United Methodist Hour at Post Office Box 1393 Clinton, MS 39060 in lieu of flowers.
