Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Dot Donovan will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Roseland Park Cemetery in Hattiesburg. Mrs. Donovan, age 93, passed away from this life on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, in Collins. The Reverend Tommy Shields and Brother Joe Lott will officiate.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Everett, Mac Clayton, Tristen Cooper, John Lacy Ferguson, David Hollingsworth, Josh King, Wayne Harvey, and Vann Simms. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wilmer Sanford, Aden Cooper, Steven Ferguson, and Luke Ferguson.

Dorothy Nell "Dot" Donavan was born on October 29, 1927, in Hattiesburg. She graduated from Hattiesburg High School and then married Charles Lacy Donavan on May 12, 1950. After selling the Carter Gerald Travel Bureau in Hattiesburg in 1961, she moved with her family to Collins where they owned and operated the Western Auto Associate Store for 20 years.

After her retirement, Mrs. Donavan served as a deputy clerk in the Covington County Circuit Clerk's office and was elected Election Commissioner, where she served eight years. She was an active member of Collins Presbyterian Church, Collins Chamber of Commerce, and Collins Garden Club. Mrs. Donavan also served on several state boards as well as was a Colonel on the staff of the late Governor Cliff Finch. She was honored by the Collins Chamber of Commerce as 2009-2010 Volunteer of the Year at the age of 83!

She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Corrine Riels; her husband of 51 years, Charles Lacy Donavan; and her granddaughter, Caryn Clayton Quinnelly and Caryn's husband Kevin, both of Sand Springs, OK.

Survivors are her half-sister, Beverly Jane Robinson (Razz) and their children Robin and Kevin or Fort Worth, TX; 3 daughters, Libby Everett (Jerry) of Petal, Donna Williams (Rich) of Lincoln City, OR, and Debbie Davis (John) of Ashland, AL; 4 grandchildren, Mac Clayton (Brenda) of Pearl, Jeff Everett (Lisa) of Portland, OR, Ginny Davis Cooper of Eastaboga, AL, and Beth Davis Ferguson (Steven) of Ashland, AL; 10 great-grandchildren, Christina Atkins (Brandon) of Pearl, Ryan Quinnelly (Piper) and Derek Quinnelly of Sand Springs, OK, Tristen Cooper and Aden Cooper of Bonifay, FL, Luke Ferguson and John Lacy Ferguson of Ashland, AL, Gus Everett and Lucy Everett of Portland, OR; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Collin and Clayton Smith; 2 step-grandchildren, Jennifer Williams and Richard Williams of New Jersey; 8 step-great-great-grandchildren, Chance, Blake, and Cameron Yates of Pearl, and Ryder, Presley, Tristan, Bryon, and Canyon Quinnelly of Sand Springs, OK; caregiver, Jean Sanford; 2 special chosen grandchildren, Josh and Angie King of Mobile, AL; chosen family, the B.C. Lewis, Sr. Family; as well as a host of other close friends and relatives.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 3, 2021, from 5:30 pm until 8 pm at Wade Funeral Home.
