Funeral Services for Mr. Carlton McRaney will be held at 10:00am on Monday, August 28, 2023, in the Chapel of Wade Funeral Home. Mr. McRaney, age 95, passed away from this life on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at his residence in Collins. Reverend Tommy Shields will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Horeb Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Graves, Fred Englade, Scott Graves, Drew Englade, Joe Darrell Mayfield, Larry McDonald, Bob Shoemake, and V.O. Smith.

James Carlton McRaney was born on December 23, 1927, in Collins, to Colon and Ollie Chance McRaney. Mr. McRaney earned his Bachelor of Science from Mississippi College, where he also attended law school. Carlton McRaney was a veteran of both the Merchant Marine and the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he served as a Rural Mail Carrier for over four decades. Mr. McRaney retired from the Collins Board of Alderman and was a member of the Mississippi Municipal Association. Carlton was a lifelong member of the Morning Coffee Club, where he was famous for sharing his wisdom, worldly advice, and more often, just tall tales. Mr. McRaney was a member and integral part of his church, the Collins Presbyterian Church. He served as a Ruling Elder Emeritus and enjoyed the fellowship, especially the men's breakfasts.

Mr. McRaney was preceded in death by his mother and father; his daughter, Sandra Lynn Englade; 2 sisters, Velma Shoemake and Cletys Coulter; and 3 brothers, R.C. McRaney, Norman McRaney, and Douglas McRaney.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Bobbie F. McGrew McRaney of Collins; 1 daughter, Carol Anne Graves (Roger) of Summit; his son-in-law, Fred Englade of Brandon; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be Monday, August 28, 2023, from 9:00am until 10:00am at Wade Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorials to the Collins Presbyterian Church at P.O. Box 463 Collins, MS 39428.
