Janet Lenore Hebert, age 77, passed away on November 15, 2025, in Hattiesburg.

Ms. Hebert was born on May 23, 1948, in Helena, Montana to Major William Downs and Ella Belle Warren Downs.

Janet was a tenacious lover of the arts and a free spirit who was constantly surrounded by music from jazz to rock, classical to country, if it moved and had purpose, she swayed to its beat. She also loved her pets, whether it was an old soul like Doc, or independent and spunky like Itty Bit, every animal companion had their own special place in her heart. Janet found joy in simple things like reading, writing, sewing, and having conversations with friends.

Janet is survived by her son Shannon Dearth, and daughter Heather Buhler; five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Major Downs and Ella Belle Bushnell; brothers Harold Downs, George Downs, Robert Downs; husband David Hebert and former husband Gordon Dearth.

She will be interred with her beloved David at Bullock Cemetery in Seminary, Mississippi.
