Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Smith will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, in the Wade Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Smith, age 89, passed away from this life on Saturday, July 9, 2022, in Petal. Reverend Mike Ryals will officiate and interment will follow in the McDonald Chapel Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Jackson Dyer, William Burke, Cameron Collett, Cody Rogers, Matthew Ellis, and Derek Ellis.

Ella Jean Ellis Smith was born on November 15, 1932, in Collins to James and Edna Sellers Ellis. Mrs. Smith was a Registered Nurse was a member of Harvest World Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; 1 daughter, Terry Lynn Smith; 1 grandson, William Smith; 2 brothers, Ben Ellis and Buck Ellis; and 1 sister, Martha Schmitz.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Dave Smith of Petal; 1 son, David Smith, Jr. (Diane Lewis Smith) of Petal; 1 granddaughter, Jessica Hillburn (Chelsey) of Kentwood, LA; 2 sisters, Madeline Allred of Collins, and Nell Germann (Peter) of Durham, NC; and 1 brother, Sammy Ellis (Ann) of Collins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be the Wednesday from 11:30 am until 12:00 pm at Wade Funeral Home.
