Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Nell Johnson will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in the Wade Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Johnson, age 88, passed away from this life on Sunday, August 30, 2026, in Hattiesburg. Brother Tim Hopkins will officiate and interment follow in the Old Chapel Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Benny Barrett, Josh Barrett, Hunter McPhail, Destin Fawley, Richard Begnaud, and Tom Cooper.

Jessie Nell Cook Johnson was born on December 8, 1937, in Biloxi to Annie Kate Brewer Cook and Jesse Lavern Cook. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and had formerly worked for Steven's Sportswear. She was a member of the Blended Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Annie and Jesse Cook; 2 brothers, John Harvey Cook and Chester Lavern Cook; and 4 sisters, Janice Dewitt, Bessie Nell Rocko, Alice Johnson, and Nancy Ann Cook.

Survivors include her son, Edward Paul Johnson (Tammy) of Seminary; 1 sister, Joyce Ferrill of St, Martinsville, LA; 5 grandchildren, Kaylee Johnson, Courtney McFerren, Rachel Johnson, Brittney Johnson, and Julius Johnson; 3 great-grandchilden, Easton McFerren, Weston McFerren, and Stella Johnson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 8:30am to 10:00am at Wade Funeral Home.
