Funeral Services for Mr. Johnny Doyle Smith will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 10, 2019, in the Wade Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Smith passed away from this life on Monday, October 7, 2019, at his home in Lone Star. Reverend James Walters and Reverend Daniel Lee will officiate and Interment will be in the Lone Star Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Steve Wise, Matthew Wise, Ethan Wise, Zack McRaney, Dwright McRaney, and Johnny Hamilton. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Guylon Gregory, Sammy Glenn Hooks, Wayne Smith, and the Men of the Lone Star United Methodist Church.

Johnny Doyle Smith was born on June 21, 1936 in Covington County to Lavelle Smith and M.L. Chance Smith. Mr. Smith retired from 30 years in the oil, gas, and land title business, as owner of Smith Abstracting & Title Company.

Prior to Mr. Smith's abstracting career, he was the Co-Owner of the Chick-N-Box restaurant, with his brother, V.O. Smith. He was the owner of Johnny's Drive-In and the Town House Restaurant.

Johnny Doyle Smith was a member of the Mississippi Association of Petroleum Landmen. The American Association of Petroleum Landmen, and the Black Warrior Association of Petroleum Landmen.

Mr. Smith was on the Board of Directors of the Lone Star Cemetery and was very supportive of the effort to upkeep the cemetery. He was an active member of the Lone Star United Methodist Church.

Johnny Doyle Smith was blessed with wonderful neighbors, family members, and his Lone Star Methodist Church Family. His family wishes to express their gratitude and love for the outpouring of love and the many acts of kindness shown to them. The family is especially thankful for the team at Encompass Home Health and Hospice for their loving care and compassion during the last days of Johnny's illness.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Nellie G. Smith of Collins; daughter, LaDonna Wise (Steve) of Collins; son, Gary Smith of St. Petersburg, Fl; grandsons, Matthew E. Wise (Kara) of Vancleave and Ethan G. Wise (Shelby) of Mt. Olive; 2 great-granddaughters, Haylie and Charlotte; 1 brother, V.O. Smith (Ada) of Collins; as well as a host of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 10, 2019, from 9:00am until 11:00am at Wade Funeral Home.
