A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Ms. June Upton Miles will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Collins First Baptist Church. Ms. Miles, age 89, passed away from this life on Monday, February 16, 2026, in Hattiesburg. Reverend Dr. Hal Hood and Reverend Dr. Joseph Bird will officiate and Ms. Janice Shanks and Mr. Brett Sutherland will provide a musical tribute. Inurnment will be in the Victory Baptist Church Cemetery.

Norma June Upton Miles was born on June 6, 1936, in Collins, to Louie Howard Upton and Beulah Mauldin Upton. Ms. Miles earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master of Arts from William Carey. She was a retired school teacher from Bassfield Elementary School and a member of Collins First Baptist Church.

Our Mother, June Miles, was a God fearing, family loving, piano playing, educator. Mother loved the Lord and served in the church in various positions throughout her life. From teaching Sunday School, helping with the youth, singing in the choir, working in VBS, and playing the piano, she dedicated her life to serving her Lord.  Her love for music and her Lord led her to play the piano for close to 4 decades, many of which were spent at First Baptist Collins. As an educator who loved her students, she never failed to read a Bible Story or to pray with her class on a daily basis. She was a strong, determined woman, and if you knew her you never had to wonder what she was thinking because she never hesitated to let you know!!
Although Mother went through her share of trials, she remained steadfast in her faith in the Lord. Thank you for sharing this day with us to honor our mother. The Family of June Miles

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Beulah and Louie Upton; a brother, Kelton Howard Upton; and husbands, Charles Lavon Bullock and Melvin B. "Dan" Miles.

Survivors include her son, Greg (Suzanne) Bullock of Sumrall; her 2 daughters, Nina (George) Puckett of Raleigh, and Laura (Mark) Fails of Bassfield; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Mary Nell (Earlon) Shows of Madison, and Janice Shanks of Collins; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Visitation will be from 2:00pm until 3:00pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Collins First Baptist Church.
