Graveside service for Mrs. Kathryn Childress will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Childress was 82 years of age and passed away from this life on Monday, June 15, 2019, at her home near Collins. The Reverend Dennis Campbell will officiate.

Kathryn Evelyn Pickering Childress was born on October 24, 1937, in Laurel to Archie James Pickering and Idell Evelyn Pride Pickering. Mrs. Childress earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina and was retired from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Salem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; and her husband of 45 years, Harold Eugene "Charlie" Childress, Jr.

Mrs. Childress is survived by a daughter, Barbara Beasley (Art) of Collins; 2 sons, Brian Childress (Brenda) of Petal and Barry Childress of Collins; 6 grandchildren, Brandon Childress, Jeremy Childress, Barry Childress, Jr., Britany Childress, Desiree Hall (Jeremy), and Casey Beasley; 5 great grandchildren, Charlie Childress, Winston Childress, Jaxton Hall, Asher Beasley, and Anthony Childress; and 1 sister, Margaret Ellis of Collins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
