Leon Sanford

Funeral services for Mr. Leon Sanford will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, November 7, 2016 in the Chapel of the Wade Funeral Home in Collins. Mr. Sanford, age 79, passed away from this life on Friday, November 4, 2016 in Hattiesburg. Reverend Kelly Patrick and Reverend Randy Sanford will officiate. Kelly Patrick, Courtney Sanford, and Ronnie Sanford will provide the musical service. Interment will be in the Jesus Name Tabernacle Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Joey Sanford, Justin Sanford, Ricky Sanford, Roger Sanford, Chase Sanford, and Adrian Sanford.

Leon Sanford was born April 15, 1937 in Seminary to Captain Shirley Sanford and Iona Mooney Sanford. Mr. Sanford was the owner of Sanford's Barber Shop in Collins and was a Barber for 56 years. Leon Sanford dispensed wisdom and humor in his shop and enjoyed the fellowship of his friends. Mr. Sanford was always ready to offer his advice on anything from strong coffee to politics and this community will miss him. He was a member of Pentecostal Tabernacle Church.

Leon Sanford was preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife of 49 years, Kathleen Williams Sanford; and 4 brothers, Hubert Sanford, Herbert Sanford, Herman Sanford, and Howard Sanford.

Mr. Sanford is survived by his 2 sons, Kerry Sanford and his wife Lori of Walnut and Michael Leon Sanford of Seminary; 2 brothers, Herschel Sanford and his wife Frances of Seminary and Hulon Sanford and his wife Marell of Florence; 2 sisters, Evon Warren and her husband Gene and Johnnie Vee Lowery and her husband Rayford, all of Seminary; 4 grandchildren, Loramie Sanford, Adrian Sanford, Meghan Pech, and Chase Sanford; 7 great grandchildren, Heidee Sanford, Klein Sanford, Adrianna Pech, Alexis Pech,Ashton Pech, Zoey Sanford, and Zaveri Sanford; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Wade Funeral Home in Collins.
