Funeral Services for Ms. Mary Barnes Watts will be held at 10:00am on Friday, November 3, 2023, in the Chapel of Wade Funeral Home. Ms. Watts, age 72, passed away from this life on Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Hattiesburg. Reverend Danny Forrest will officiate. Interment will be in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincoln County.

May Ellen Barnes Watts was born on November 5, 1950, in La Junta, CO, to Irene Bowser Barnes and James Thomas Barnes. Ms. Watts was a graduate of Jones College and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. She was formerly an executive assistant at Barlow and Plunkett Architecture Firm in Jackson. Ms. Watts had retired as an executive assistant at Entergy. She was a member of the Byram United Methodist Church.

Ms. Watts was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sister, Jane Barnes Owen; and her husband, Jessie Farrell Watts, Sr.

Survivors include 1 brother, Charles T. Barnes of Clinton; 2 sisters, Cheryl Miller (Michael Richardson) of Gulfport, and Judy Naimy of Cannon City, CO; 2 step-children, Jess Watts (Amber) of Wesson, and Cristie Cape of Braxton; 3 step-grandchildren, Noah Owen Watts of Laurel, Hadley Watts of Laurel, and Nicholas Cape of Braxton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
