A private memorial service will be held for Mrs. Melva D. Close of Laurel. Mrs. Close, age 72, passed away from this life on Friday, July 22, 2022.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Melva Diane Puckett Close was born in Meridian on April 13, 1950, to James M. Puckett, Sr.  and Imogene Sumrall Puckett. Mrs. Close was a retired retail salesclerk.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Thomas Martin Close; 1 brother, James M. Puckett, Jr.; 1 sister, Wendy Slaton; and 1 nephew, James M. Freeman.

Survivors include 3 sisters, Danetta Crappel of Coleen, TX, Jetta Kyzar of Soso, and Loretta Puckett of Houma, LA; 9 nieces and nephews, Amy Puckett, Lynn Susano, William Freeman, Jr, Genny Bigbie, Joseph Freeman, Jamie A. Puckett, Reynold Crappel, Charles Crappel, Sr, and Diane Crappel; 14 great-nieces and nephews; and 5 great-great nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives, and friends.
