Funeral Services for Mr. Pete Stubbs will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, in the Wade Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Stubbs, age 77, passed away from this life on Sunday, January 12, 2020, in Hattiesburg. Reverend David Hagen and Reverend Harrell Moore will officiate and interment will follow in Collins City Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Dave Gibson, Larry Upton, Layne Upton, Louis Goff, Bob Rogers, and Cheyenne Pitts. The 1961 JCJC Football Team will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Alfred Mims "Pete" Stubbs was born in Magee on October 9, 1942 to Alfred Memory Stubbs and Emma Versia Thames Stubbs. Pete Stubbs was a graduate of Collins High School and a proud football player for Coach Jack Bailey's Collins High School Tigers. Mr. Stubbs earned his Associates Degree at Jones County Junior College, where he played on the JCJC Bobcat Football Team. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a coach and teacher in the West Jefferson Public Schools in New Orleans. He retired from Henry I. Siegel Clothing Company and Arrow Shirt Company, where he served as Vice President of Sales. He was a heavy equipment adjuster for GAB Robbins. Mr. Stubbs was a funeral director at Wade Funeral Home for 12 years.

Pete Stubbs loved The Lord Jesus and was active in Christian Ministry for over 40 years. He was an Ordained Deacon and served on the Board of Trustees at The Storehouse Church. He and his wife Sheila hosted numerous Bible Study Groups over a four-decade period. Pete Stubbs was a member of Life Church.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Speigle and Mae Upton; a sister, Virginia Gibson; a son-in-law, Jeffrey Speed; and a brother-in-law, Dub Gibson.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sheila Upton Stubbs of Collins; 3 daughters, Kristi Wade and her husband Steve of Collins, Leigh Stubbs of Collins, and Lori Stubbs and her fiancé, Joseph Speed of Collins; 2 grandchildren, Katelyn Speed and Connor Wade, both of Collins; 1
foster-son, David Hughes of Birmingham, AL; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lovelle and Doris Upton of Collins; as well a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00am until 2:00pm at Wade Funeral Home.
