Funeral services for Mr. Bob Hamill will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the Collins United Methodist Church. Mr. Hamill, age 89, passed away from this life on Saturday, April 10, 2021, in Hattiesburg. The Reverend Timothy Beard will officiate and interment will follow in the Collins City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Thornton, Kurt Hynum, Jack Fitzgerald, Jamil Bateh, Jordan Bateh, and Alex Compus.

Robert Henry "Bob" Hamill was born January 31, 1932, in West Memphis, AR, to Lee Augusta Hamill and Mary Henry Hamill. Mr. Hamill was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in Guam. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and worked with the U.S. Forrest Service. Mr. Hamill was a District Conservationist with USDA Soil Conservation Service until his retirement. He also served as a Commissioner for the Covington County Soil and Water Conservation District for a number of years after his retirement. Mr. Hamill was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his first wife, Dinah Clayton Hamill; a granddaughter, Lucy Fitzgerald; and two brothers, Lee Hamill and James Gordon Hammill.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Hamill of Collins; his children, Tanya Hamill Fitzgerald of Little Rock, AR, Gaye Hamill Hynum (Billy Joe) of Sumrall, Greg Hamill (Silvane) of Laurel, and Tiffany Hamill, also of Little Rock; step-children, Shane Thornton of Collins, Sherri Bateh (Rick) of Jacksonville, FL, Bryan Thornton of Mize, and Dennis Thornton of Collins; 13 grandchildren, Kirsten Zortman-Ross, Natalie Zortman Myshrall, Malia Zortman, Kurt Hynum, Pheobe Fitzgerald, Augusta Fitzgerald, Jack Fitzgerald, Olivia Hamill, Hannah Bateh, Jamil Bateh, and Jordan Bateh, Emily Thornton, and Jacob Thornton; 2 great-grandchildren, Elias Ross and Ezra Ross; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends desiring to make memorials are asked to make them to the Collins United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 220 Collins, MS 39428.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Wade Funeral Home.
