Funeral services for Miss Shirley Mooney will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the Wade Funeral Home Chapel. Miss Mooney was 92 years of age and passed away from this life on Saturday, April 17, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at her home near Collins. Reverend Emory May and Reverend Rudolph Sims will officiate. Interment will follow in the Collins City Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Ole Hedstrom, Chance Mooney, Sebe Leggett, Todd Duckworth, Dan Knight, II, and Jimmy McPhail.

Shirley Louise McGilvray Mooney was born on March 14, 1929, in Covington County to Joe and Tiny Easterling McGilvray. Miss Shirley was the former co-owner of M&M Grocery and Mooney Furniture Company. She was a member of Ora Baptist Church.

Welcoming Miss Shirley into Heaven were her mother and father; her husband of 65 years, Allison B. Mooney; her son, Al Mooney; 2 sisters, Mary Jo McGilvray Hagen and Velma Lee McGilvray Thronson; 2 brothers, Louie McGilvray and Jake McGilvray; 2 son-in-laws, Chet Hedstrom and Daniel Charles Knight; and 1 daughter-in-law, Rosemary Mooney.

Survivors include her children, Brenda Knight of Collins, Linda Hedstrom of Reed Point, MT, and Don Mooney (Maribeth) of Collins; 8 grandchildren, Melissa Knight Leggett, Daniel Charles Knight, II (Angela), Justin Beach (Denise), Wryn Morgan, Ole Hedstrom (Dawn), Kristen Scruggs (Jeremy), Ali Barnes (Brett), and Chance Mooney; 15 great-grandchildren, Brendan Knight, Maia Knight, Sebe Leggett, Allison Morgan, Aniston Morgan, Archer Morgan, Jess Beach, Hannah Beach, Jacob Beach, Maebry Scruggs, Molly Scruggs, Mason Scruggs, Murphy Scruggs, Brynnlynn Barnes, and Davin Barnes; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Wade Funeral Home.
