Funeral Services for Mr. Walter "Louie" Bartel will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Collins. Mr. Bartel, age 83, passed away from this life on Saturday, January 10, 2023, in Collins. The Reverend John Sapp and Reverend Dr. Joseph Bird will officiate. Mrs. Dianne Speed and Dr. Barry Morris will provide the musical service. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in the Collins City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Baggett, Shane Hoes, James Kennedy, Will Ross, David Shoemake, and Greg Walker.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Russell "Louie" Bartel was born on April 22, 1939, in Plymouth, MI, to Lawrence Frank Bartel and Annie Paseka Bartel. Mr. Bartel was a retired Tech Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force and had more recently worked for the City of Collins. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Collins.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his son, Walter Ronald "Ronnie" Bartel; and 6 brothers and sisters.

Mr. Bartel is survived by his wife of 64 years, Peggy Bartel of Collins; 2 sons, Gregory Bartel of Collins and Todd (Laura) Bartel of Oak Grove; a daughter-in-law, Robin Bartel of Pearland, TX; 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2013, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Collins.
