A family memorial service for Walter Weldon "Walt" Barr will be held at a later date. Mr. Barr, age 85, passed away from this life on Monday, December 16, 2024, in Collins.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Weldon "Walt" Barr was born on November 30, 1939, in Michigan, to Elmer Paul Barr and Annie Mae Gross Barr. After graduating from Carthage High School, Mr. Barr joined the United States Marine Corp. He was a boxer and spent most of his life in home construction until his retirement.

Mr. Barr was an avid outdoorsman and spent as much time as possible fishing. He enjoyed raising cattle and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Barr was a Baptist.

Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his mother and father, Annie Mae and Elmer Paul Barr of Laurel; and his nephew, Phillip Hightower of Laurel.

Survivors include his daughter, Angie Barr Palmer of Collins; his son, Buddy (Karri) Barr of Collins; the mother of his children, Cecile Perkins of Collins; three grandchildren, Callie Barr of Collins, William Palmer of Vicksburg, and Wade Barr of Collins; 3 great-grandsons, Kody White, Austin Savell, and Banks Sullivan, all of Collins; 2 sisters, Cosette Barr Polizo of Pensacola, FL, and Betty Barr Hightower of Laurel; 1 great-nephew, Zach Hightower of Laurel; and 1 niece, Diana Polizo of Pensacola; as well as a host of other relatives, and friends.
