Funeral Services for Mr. William L. "Bill" Morris ,of Collins, will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Salem Baptist Church. Mr. Morris, age 93, passed away from this life on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins. Reverend Danny Forrest will officiate. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be John David West, Chris Peden, William Ezell, Greg Rutland, Roy Gill, and Stephen Thaxton. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Adult Sunday School Class and All Former Football Players of Coach Morris.

William Lewis "Bill" Morris was born on February 9, 1932, in Seminary to Erma Lott Morris and Archie W. Morris. Mr. Morris was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, and the Army National Guard. Mr. Morris started the National Guard Post in Taylorsville, and retired as a Colonel, with over 37 years of military service.

Mr. Morris attended Jones College and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mississippi College. He later earned a Master's and a Specialist's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. He began his teaching and coaching career at Taylorsville High School. The bulk of his role as an educator was as a Biology Professor and Football Coach at Jones College.

Mr. Morris was a devoted member of Salem Baptist Church. He served in numerous capacities at Salem, including teaching Sunday School, Trustee, Pastor Search Committee Chair, and Deacon.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Erma and Archie Morris; his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy "Dot" Thaxton Morris; and a brother, Ernest Merle Kelly.

Survivors include his 2 daughters, Charlotte Morris and Carol (Randy) Daniel, all of Seminary; 3 grandchildren, Caroline (John David) West of Sumrall, Ashley (Chris) Peden of Madison; and William (Rebecca) Ezell of Seminary; and 6 great-grandchildren, Sam West, Finley Peden, Henry Peden, Anna Grace Ezell, Leo Hernandez, and Ava Hernandez; as well as a host of former students and football players, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Salem Baptist Church, 338 Salem Church Rd., in Collins, from 10:00am until 11:00am.
